I feel connected to the Seasons and the passage of Time when I work, and also to the painters of the past:

I particularly love the work of Fairfield Porter (1907-1975), John SInger Sargent (1856-1925), Joaquin Sorolla (1863-1923), Edouard Vuillard (1869 -1940), Pierre Bonnard (1867 -1947), Peter Kroyer (1851-1909) and The Skagen Painters, Vilhelm Hammershoi (1864 -1916), Nikolai Astrup (1880-1928), Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964), Richard Diebenkorn (1922 -1993), Ivon Hitchens (1893-1979), Andrew Wyeth (1917 -2009), Helen Frankenthaler (1928-2011), Jane Freilicher (1924-2014), and think of all these painters as colourists.

Beauty can still and anchor us at the same time as softening our minds. Making Art you have to be open and really look, even if it’s only for a quick sketch.

As you look, a drama of light and colour unfolds as the earth turns. My paintings are a distillation of this vital looking for which I give thanks everyday.
